MPAU Update – April
April 24, 2013
The legislative session concluded uneventfully for the 2013 session. Thankfully our incentive as currently structured has been preserved for another year and because of that we have seen some increased film and television activity of the past 18 months. Moving forward we will monitor not only our own program, but the successes and failures of our competitors.
We have a lot of new activity in the state which should keep many of us working through this spring and into summer. Check the film commission website for details.
We would like to announce the addition of two new board members to the MPAU. Adam Abel and Mike Cook will bring a vast amount of insight and experience to the table and we are lucky to have them as part of the team.
It is also the time of year when we thank our lobbyist, Charlie Evans. Your MPAU contributions go entirely to the support of our campaign to keep Utah’s film incentive relevant. Mr. Evans has been with us from the beginning and we would like to thank him on behalf of the entire industry. Without his efforts we wouldn’t be where we are today.
We will schedule the forum for July and look forward to seeing you all and hearing any comments or concerns when we’re together.
The success of our industry in Utah relies on our reputation. Our integrity, word and work ethic as professionals are our first and last impressions on visiting producers and studios. Thank you to those representing us well in the first two quarters of the year.
